Install CS2 on Ubuntu

I looked this over briefly and it looks pretty good. It requires installing Wine, which I had meant to do anyway. I think I might be trying this out tonight.

New Toys! Upgraded Toys!

So I finally did it. I got my new speedy processor. I just go an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (Toledo). It’s gonna be so sweet! I’m going to to use Photoshop, and maybe Illustrator, throw in some Dreamweaver and oh yeah, three different browsers. It’ll be like cutting warm butter.

I probably should have forked over the extra $60 and gotten the 4800, but, that seemed excessive. And then my eyes were just a little too big to settle for the measly 3800. The 4400 sports a 2x1MB L2 cache, so hopefully it will be worth the extra money I spent on it rather than getting the 3800. I also got a new 250GB hard drive.

I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought the little baby 80GB one. It seemed fine when I got it, but then I transferred my music and photo collections to it from my laptop and it suddenly seemed so small.

  • First step: get the drive installed.
  • Second step: image my current hard drive and restore it on the new one (I don’t want to have to deal with transferring anything). Should be interesting.
  • Third step: Get Ubuntu, install it on the 80GB hard drive and start playing!
