TextMate for Windows

About a month or so I blogged about how I was “Looking for a Good Windows Text Editor”. So far, I’ve been fairly unsuccessful. As per Fox Cutter’s suggestion, I did check out TextPad. I’ve been using it whenever I need to do edits for my website on my Windows computer. I have to say though, it’s not really what I was looking for. The user interface feels old to me and the code highlighting seems rudimentary at best. I really want something that is like TextMate, but will work on Windows (as a bonus it would work on linux too).

It’s seems like things might be looking better though. I just found out about E-TextEditor. It’s tag line is “The power of Textmate on Windows”. Sounds good to me.

E-TextEditor is still in beta, but from what I’ve heard so far about it, the future looks good. I have not gotten a chance to try it out myself yet since these days I seem to only turn on my home computer on the weekends. But the next time I do any coding on my Windows machine, I’ll be trying this out.
